The Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving is an essential qualification for any paramedic or other member of an ambulance crew. Possession of this certificate permits ambulance drivers to claim special exemptions as laid down in the Road Traffic Act 1988, in respect of high speed driving in emergency situations.

The course covers both emergency care support staff roles and clinical practitioner roles acting as part of an established ambulance crew. This is a nationally-recognised qualification, suitable for NHS ambulance drivers as well as private emergency ambulance drivers.
The Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving tests both the delegate’s competency at driving and their understanding of the relevant legislation. During the course, delegates will be expected to demonstrate their driving competencies both in response to an emergency call-out and whilst transporting their patient to the relevant health care provider.
This qualification is made up of skills tests, practical assessments, invigilated exams, and learner workbooks. Delegates will be expected to demonstrate their understanding of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and its implications, as well as their competency as an emergency ambulance driver. These multiple methods of assessment ensure that all trainees who pass the course do so at the highest level.
Our Level 3 course in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving course is aimed at those wishing to work within an ambulance service who have a requirement to respond to incidents both under routine and emergency conditions, including those that work on behalf of NHS Trusts.
The qualification can be completed by anyone over the age of 21 who holds a full, UK driving licence and has done for a minimum of 2 years.
